Next month we are hosting our first independently-produced, intensive tea workshop in Baltimore! This is something that we have wanted to do for a long time since normally our tea seminars are a part of a larger event, limited to 60 mins, and we aren’t able to give out samples of the teas we discuss. It’s a great way to celebrate the beginning of spring and the looming ichibancha (first tea harvest) season in Japan!
Saturday, April 1st | 12-2pm EDT
McHenry Row Conference Center
1215 E Fort Ave, Baltimore, MD 21230
This workshop is an all-inclusive seminar on Japanese Green Tea, covering loose-leaf, matcha and ready-to-drink options. Topics covered include:
• what makes Japanese tea so unique
• all major varieties and how they are harvested/processed
• preparation techniques
• recommendations based on personal preference
• where to purchase authentic products
• ...and much more!
Attendees will have the opportunity to taste over 10 different types of tea from various tea producers/regions in Japan (accompanied by Japanese snacks) and everyone will receive a Japanese-made yunomi (Japanese ceramic tea cup) to take home. This curated experience is a perfect way to either begin, or expand, your knowledge of Japanese tea via the most direct method: tasting them for yourself! The teas offered would cost upwards of $200 if you were to purchase them all yourself… and you would end up with way too much tea (as almost none of these are available in “sample sizes”).
